VCAP5-DCA Queries

Hello Everyone,

I am planning to appear for VCAP5-DCA exam in few weeks. However I'm bit confused when I saw VCAP5-DCA Interactive Exam Simulation Video.

1. According to the video, vSphere manuals are provided on the Virtual Infrastructure Administrator's Desktop. "vSphere Manuals Documentation Set" are they really available on the desktop? If yes, which all manuals are available?

2. Another query I have is related to Free 2nd attempt, http://www.vmwarearena.com/2014/01/free-2nd-attempt-offer-for-vmware.html

Is this promo code still valid?

3. Since there is a waiting period of 14 business days for re-appearing the exam, I am curious to know if the counter starts from the date of appearing the exam or it starts from the date of getting the VCAP5 exam result.

Please share your views and experiences on above queries.

Thanks,

Kedar

1. yes the documents are available for the exam - it is open book in that sense but you are very restricted on time for the exam so its best not to relay on them too much.

the documents available are the stanadard support documentation pdf's - no white papers or anything of that nature:

VMware vSphere Documentation

2. yes its still valid providing you live in Australia, India, New Zealand, Japan & Korea.

3. you must take your 1st attempt between 1 OCT 2013 & 31 March 2014 & schedule your 2nd attempt before 31 March 2014.  The retake policy takes affect from the date you sit the exam.

Be advised that it can take a few weeks to get the results so the clock is ticking for you to book a free retake before 31st March - should you need to retake it that is Smiley Happy

good luck!

Hi Gav,

Thanks for the prompt reply Smiley Happy

So in that case all vSphere Documentation is available on the desktop?

And how much time does it usually take to get the results? (FAQ states 14 Business days), however some posts i have seen which stated it took almost a month.

Yesterday i was chatting with one of the VMware education support representative, and according to her the wait period starts from the date that the results are communicated (Kind of confusing).

Thanks for your wishes..

Thanks,

Kedar

Only official PDF from the previous link are present.

Note that no whitepaper or 3rd part docs are available.

About the time just consider 1 month after your exam. Usually is aroung 3 weeks after, but may depend by the load.

All documentation available is listed here in the Docs available section http://sostechblog.com/2014/01/14/building-a-vcap-live-exam-test-environment/

Some whitepapers and KB articles are included depending on the exam (none for DCA as Andre mentioned)

Wait period starts when you click "finish" on the exam.
