Future of VMware certifications in Hybrid datacenters

As more companies are using more than one hypervisor and combining Hyper-V, KVM, Xen, etc. in one datacenter, what certification paths are most future proof?  Are there other viable certification options and paths for Virtualization design than  VCAP-CID and VCAP-DCD?  What will be the future value of a VCAP certification in a highly diverse datacenter with ESXi, KVM, Xen, and hyper-V in the future?

If you want to prepare for future datacenter design roles in large environmnts, where VMware is included with many other hypervisors, what are the best options when choosing a certification path?

That is a good question - I still feel that VMware is making the right moves that they will be the big player in those hybrid datacenters - making the necessary improvements to their technology and licensing to keep them competitive so I think the VMware Certification path is the best to follow -

The other challenge in the modern datacenter is the different hardware selections like HP Cloud Matrix or Cisco UCS these too have their own certificaiton paths as well -

As I know you can build a VCDX project as you want (but you have to defend it).

So I could expect that somebody may design a multi-hypervisor solution.

On exams I think that they remain focuesd on VMware product (but note that design exam is, in most cases, product agnostic)

Thanks for your input.  It seems like eventually certifications that specifically target hybrid datacenters will come on the scene and pick up momentum.  For example, a certification in something like OpenStack, CloudStack, etc.  Any thoughts on what the most valuable certification will be in the future?  VCDX is so hard to get that it's impractical for most people.  VCAP-DCD and VCAP-CID still are pretty VMware centric.  When companies begin to need to design and implement hybrid datacenters, and implement tools like OpenStack and CloudStack, and those tools start to develop and do things that currently only vSphere products can do, how will that affect certification values?

Will we one day see something like a certified OpenStack or CloudStack architect that rivals VMware certs?

I suppose that the Cloud certifications path will evolve in this direction.

Actually is mainly focused on the private cloud, but I see more evolution and future in this path rather than the datacenter one.
