DCA 5.0 Blueprint

Guys,

any news about the DCA 5.0 blueprint? Is it still supposed to be published in April?

The beta version of the exam isn't available yet. Those that are invited to do the beta exam will receive the beta blueprint. The final blueprint will be made available to all around the time the final exam is released, which is typically 6-8 weeks after the beta exam period.

The short version - there isn't one, yet.

I'm currently preparing for the exam on version 5.0, I guess I'll still be shooting in the dark till June or so.

Can I safely assume that 50% or more of the objectives are common between 4.0 and 5.0 blueprints?

Well the VCAP5-DCA blueprint hasn't even been released for the beta test so there is no definite way of knowing but due to a very large portion of vSphere 5 being the same as vSphere 4 you can safely say there is at least 50-60% commonality

I'd agree with Gregg on that assumption, it may even be a higher percentage - we'll have to wait and see.

Well I sincerely hope Auto Deploy isnt going to be an objective, although it's highly unlikely.

Troubleshooting Auto Deploy seems a real pain in the nick.

I would imagine it will be an objective without doubt as it is such a major component of vSphere 5 and is the way VMware are looking to deploy servers in the future. I agree the capabilities of doing some tasks in a lab for the test will be difficult but applying of profiles and making rule sets and applying them is a real possibility. I haven't seen the blueprint so this is just my opinion

For the VCAP4 things were on the blueprint that couldn't be tested in a lab but you still needed to know it to be able to do certain sub tasks.

Rule of thumb is learn it all. Also seeing as Auto deploy is on the VCP5 blueprint i would be utterly amazed if it didn't feature

The beta blueprint is now available (but only at selected people, yet).

Rumors confirm that the beta could start this month.
