Becoming an VCAP

Hello,

I have passed my VCP5-DCV this spring and just got my VCP5-DT. I am thinking on advancing on to VCAP-DCA and already took a look into the exam blueprint. I don't have day to day work with creating or troubleshooting vSphere enviroments and I would like to build my own lab. I already found some equipment for using in it. I wanted to ask what to focus to. What tasks to do? Is there any place I can found real life exam scenarios from VCAP to work on?

Thanks a lot.

How about home lab.

I am now owning a Cisco 2960 that I got on sale and plan buying some HP ProLiant DL360 G5 servers with 32 GB of RAM and booting this from USB. Also on one of them I am planing to deploy Nexenta Community edition as a iSCSI/NFS server for using as storage for VM's. Or maybe someone can recommend me some dedicated iSCSI cards that I can use.

Would this be enough?

More than enough.  Just be sure to work through all of the items in the blueprint and understand them.  Also, you should subscribe to trainsignal and watch the Jason Nash Optimize and Scale course.  Watch the vBrownBag series on DCA, and ensure you've done lab time on all of the objectives.

Good luck!

For DCA needs lot of time to spent on the lab, make sure you follow the blueprint and cover all the objectives and practice. Lot of useful  study resource can be found VCAP5-DCA & DCD | TheSaffaGeek

Time management it's a must for the exam.

Good lab (and/or good experience) it's a must for the preparation

Don't forget to check out the excellent autolab which is like a lab in a box and as you can see from the link you can do it with 8GB RAM but i recommend running off SSD.
