vSphere 4.0 Update Manager Stage stuck at 33%

Hi all,

  I have just tried to stage patches for two ESX hosts in the last hour.  For both I get similar results;

In the events tab is the info I see:

Start staging  of patch on ESXhost1                         1:07:26PM

  ESX400-2011030401-SG, ESX400-2011030402-SG,

  ESX400-2011030403-SG, ESX400-2011030404-SG,

  ESX400-2011030405-SG, ESX400-2011030407-SG

Successully scanned on  ESXhost1 for patches.        1:07:24PM

Task: Stage Entity                                                   1:06:45PM

The ESX hosts are VMware ESX, 4.0.0, 332073.

This stage has gone almost an hour!

Can anyone provide any insight into what's going on and how to remedy?

Thanks.

More info to add...

In the Update Manager Admin Patch Download section the Internet Connection Test passed successfully.

Proxy settings are working properly. All tested URLS have been reached successfully.

what about rebooting the update manager and see if it resolves?

I did a reboot of the vCenter server.  The problem is still there.

May be too late, but i does not find answer in goole for my problem

I have got the same problem.

"Stage"  stuck at 33 % for ~ an hour ( !!! ), so i just reboot ESX from console. After reboot it still was the same problem.

And in my case the problem was caused by stupid mistake in /etc/resolv.conf: mistake in "search" option

i.e.

  search mydomian

instead

search mydomain

I.e. it leads to correct resolv by FQDN names and not to resolv by non-FQDN names. I dont know where the relation, but this mistake leads to stuck at 33% while "Stage" patches to ESX 4.1 update 1

Chage resolv.conf resolv this problem for me.

P.S. sorry for my english, it's not my native language
