vCSA 6 u1 with VUM 6 u1 web client not working

Hi All

I upgraded my Lab environment to 6 u1 yesterday and have been trying to get the web client working with VUM.  When I click a Host and go to the Update Manager tab I get the error below:-

and I get these errors in the C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Update Manager\Logs\vmware-vum-server-x.log:-

If i go to the Update Manager item itself i get this error about "Class not found 'com.vmware.vum.views.events.VumEventConsoleView' in module /vsphere-client/updatemanager-ui/UpdateManager.swf":-

I tried re-registering VUM to vCSA via the VMwareUpdateManagerUtility.exe as detailed here vSphere 6.0 Documentation Center but it made no difference.  Even the good old universal fix (rebooting everything) didn't help.

Any ideas folks?

Thanks

Danny

OK, so this is weird....just jumped back the Web Client and my VUM is working!  I didn't do anything since writing the original post so maybe i had to wait for it to initialise or something?

I went through the logs in C:\ProgramData\VMware\VMware Update Manager\Logs (including vmware-vum-server-log4cpp.log) but can't find anything obvious to reveal the original issue.

How did you install the Update Manager for the VCSA 6.0U1 ?

They talk about it a little in this blog post, but I can't figure out how to install it on the appliance:

I have the same issue, but it hasn't fixed itself until now Smiley Sad

Opened a SR with VMware and we figured out it was a firewall problem between the vCSA and the VUM server.

VUM still has be installed on a Windows VMs and also needs SQL DB (unless you have a small environment of 5 hosts or less and then you can use the SQL Express that's bundled with the install).
