update vmtools and virtual hardware in one baseline group?

Hi,

the documentation on this is very scant, I'm wondeing if anyone has pounded on this and gotten it figured out?

When I create a baseline group and include vmtools upgrade and also vm hardware upgrade, and then try to remediate - it fails. Does not do either, and the error message says to hunt through logs to find cause.

But - if I remediate only vmtools upgrade baseline, it works. And, if I only use vm hardware upgrade, it also works as long as the vm is powered off.

I was led to believe that we could create a baseline group that includes both baselines, and that when remediation occured it would first do vmtools, then restart and complete hardware upgrade.

Is this not actually possible?

As per the documentation this should be possible...

http://pubs.vmware.com/vsphere-50/index.jsp?topic=%2Fcom.vmware.vsphere.upgrade.doc_50%2FGUID-81FDD2...

Are you applying this at the datacenter or folder level?

Yes I too thought it was supposed to be possible.

I had been testing this on a single VM - though I think I may have applied the baseline group to the cluster

Might want to throw the VM into a folder by itself and try to remediate against the folder….

Hopefully that will work for you…keep us posted ☺
