update manager fails to download patches

Hello Experts,

I have vCenter 5.5 running on win2008r2 and update manager (VUM) installed on same vcenter. I have deployed UMDS (update manager download service) to download patches. UMDS is installed on a different server. Under download setting option of Update manager Admin view tab, I have given the https web url path of UMDS patches as "shared repository". I added following links via UMDS command line as download urls :-

https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/csco-mai

Patches have been downloaded by UMDS which i can see in download store path, have attached screenshot in one of the below comments. But I do not see a single patch under patch repository tab of update manager. It shows blank.

Do you know what could be causing this?

Do you have any filters set on that page..? Just see if you could create any baseline with those downloaded patches ...

Three is no filter and it does not show any patch while creating a baseline..

There is no firewall for Intranet and Windows firewall is disabled.

Hi,

I am using UMDS for patches download and setup a shared repository in vcenter update manager admin view, I have attached screen shots, first three screenshots shows the patches being downloaded via UMDS (via vmware-umds -D command). Fourth screenshot shows that I have selected shared repository in update manager configuration for patches. Last screenshot shows patch repository tab is still blank. Just fyi, my update manager is running on vcenter server and UMDS is installed on a separate VM.

so the culprit was permissions inheritance on patch store, followed this article and it worked.
