What are the URLs for patch download sources?

My Update Manager doesn't seem to have the correct patch download sources configured. For example, for ESX 4.x it has https://hostupdate.vmware.com/software/VUM/PRODUCTION/index.xml which it claims doesn't work. (my internet connectivity tests fine)

Where are they published, or how do I locate the correct URLs for vmware patches?

On what hardware are you running the updates. If its HP Proliant systems then please refer this below KB.

You need to use the offline-bundle to upgrade an ESX 4.0 host to 4.0U1. You already have access to the internet, so setup ESX 4.x patches to be automatically downloaded to the VUM server and create a new baseline.

I am not running updates. I never said I was.

My problem is that Update manager is not able to contact the servers for downloading patches.

I have been looking at the problem, and I think the GUI interface in vCenter Update manager plugin is not saving the proxy password correctly. Even though I can apply it and test it successfully, when I close the vCenter client and restart it, the proxy password it missing.
