Vendor specific patches

We just implemented a Cisco UCS blade system. I have a question about patching them with update Manager.

All our other hosts are HP. I download updates from their depot which automatically get put in the Non Critical Patches baseline.

Will Update manager apply vendor specific patches to any host regardless of the actual vendor?

Do I need to put these into a separate baseline and remove them from the Non Critical Host Patches baseline?

Hello @pdrace ,

I have the same question.

Did you get somewhere an answer?

Thanks.

best practice is to create separate baselines for each vendor which make sure you are end up with tested and supported software for the specific hardware.

Thanks for the answer. That’s what I did. I think it’s the best solution.

I detached the default “Non-Critical Host Patches (Predefined)” baseline from the Hosts. I did a copy of the baseline for every vendor I have in my environment and then I adapted the criteria.
