VMWare Tools Upgrade- Snapshot?

I am scheduling a remediation task to upgrade VMWare Tools.

During remediation does anyone do a snapshot of a VM prior to upgrading the VMWare Tools?

I haven't up to this point but see as an option and figured I'd ask. Our vendor even said they don't snap before upgrading Tools.

It's recommendable to make a backup or snapshot of VMs before upgrade VMware Tools. This in order to restore the VM if any issue shows up.
