Hi
Have an installation with vCenter and vSphere 4 and need to update to 4.1.
The problem is that the vCenter has no connectivity to internet due to security reasons.
How can I solve this without compromising security ?
Hi,
Where's the problem? You don't need internet to update vCenter. Just download the newest iso file of 4.1, burn it to a DVD/CD, put it into the vCenter Server, run the update. Done

Hi
Want to use Update manager....
It's not possible to update the vCenter with the Update manager.....
You need to:
1. Update vCenter and the Update Manager with the iso.
2. then you can update the ESX(i) hosts with the Update Manager (load the ESX-iso into the update manager).
Hi
vcenter server works now but having problems with updating 4.0 hosts to 4.1.
Getting error message from update manager :
The host upgrade baseline does not contain the right upgrade package to upgrade host xxxxxxx
to version 4.1
Current version on hosts is 4.0.0, 261974
Version of iso is 4.1.0 , 260247
What upgrade pack do I need ?
Firstly go to Update Manager Administration and create Baseline and groups
Hi
Done all that !
Still not working.
In upgrade details there is an message " The upgrade has a missing package for host xxxxxx of type esx "
Any ideas ?
Just download the following zip file from the product download page: (ESXi 4 Update 1 Upgrade zip from ESXi 4.0). Then under Admin-View of Update Manager visit the Host-Upgrade-Release Tab and Upload the zip file downloaded. Then just create a baseline with the upgrade File and attach it to the Hosts. Then just scan the cluster or Farm and you can install the upgrade.
