Update manager fails to connect to shavlik.com. Connection to the vmware.com works normally.

Hello,

I am having problems with the Update Manager that is not able to connect to the shavlik.com site. In vSphere client under the Update manager plugin on the Configuration tab there are 4 entries predefined after the installation:

While the first two patch sources for the VMware type works properly and I am able to download patches from them the last two to the shavlik.com site don't work and the Update manager fails to connect there.

The vCenter server is behind proxy server which requires authentication but it should be configured properly as when I press the Test Configuration under the proxy setting I am getting message that everything is fine.

If I inspect the network communication using the wireshark utility I can see that there is a HTTP response: proxy authentication required (see attached picture). But I don't understand why when everything is configured properly, I can reach vmware.com sites and even the Test configuration button says everything is OK. Also I am able to connect to https://xml.shavlik.com using the web browser from the same server.

Have anybody else experienced similar problem?

Thanks,

remek

I've got a lot of problem with proxy that do packet inspection and the only working solution was disable this feature.
