Update Manager doesn't download patches...

Hi all,

may be someone could point me in the right direction.

I have an update manager installed at a customer site. Newest version on a win 2k8 64bit (no R2 !), Database is also an 64bit SQL Server 2008. Everything works fine vCenter Server, ESX Server, cluster, etc. But the Update Manager only downloads the metadata i.e. patchlists but not the patches itself. I didn't find anything in the logfiles. The VUM starts the downloadjob and finishes it without an error.

I saw a few postings concerning a similar problem but they were from the end of 2009.

could anybody help me?

Hi

So it only downloads the metadata? Have you setup the baselines and requested the patches to be downloaded? And for the patchstore location during installation did you select a store with ample space?

I did a blog posting on this exact kind of problem and noted a few additional links that may fix your problem here: http://thesaffageek.wordpress.com/2010/04/13/host-cannot-download-files-from-vmware-vcenter-update-m...

hi,

I have setup baselines and requested the patches to be downloaded. The patchstore location is large enough. The same configuration worked at another site perfectly. The patchlocation at vmware and mircrosoft are also reachabel. My customer also swears every oath that there are no proxies of any kind.

It is actually not the first time I am doing this, which is why I am at loss here.

I will try the links you posted

Thanx

It sounds like it could be a port issue?
