Update Manager Download Service

I have downloaded my patches like I have always done with other versions on UMDS, but when I try to export patches based on a range it keeps exporting everything.

Command being used:

vmware-umds.exe --export -s 2009-03-01T00:00:00 -t 2009-08-17T23:59:59

It's like its looking at the file date and not the metadata release date.

Has anyone else seen this with the version that ships with vSphere 4.0?

Thanks,

Dave

just a suggestion - why don't you try to delete all downloaded patches from their default location - C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware Update Manager\Data

and then do the download again this time with the export option and the dates. I think that date filter could be related only for redownload and that's the way to discover it

Thanks!

Just checking with other sas I thought something had changed. It's been a while since I had to use the service to move patches to an isolated network. I actually wrote a whitepaper on this when I did this before.

It still looks like the time range doesn't really look at the "releaseDate" field in the update_metadata.xml file. I thought it might be because of dependancies, but so far that has not proven true.

Checking further now...
