Update Manager 4 Keeps Dissapearing

Hi All,

Installed VirtualCenter 4 all working away nicely with sysprep etc. Since install updated manager (on same physical box as only managing 2 hosts at present).

I was able to install the ESX 4 Patches yesterday on my host however now all update manager options have dissapeared i.e no update manager tab on host or vms, or on the home screen.

The update manager client is installed service is running and have tried a reboot of the server.

Any ideas?

TIA

Check if VUM plugin is still enabled.

Hi,

Could you please restart VUM service after logging out from vSphere Client?

Log in again and then enable plugin if you need to.

Thanks.

Was the original poster able to solve this using this approach? I have not been able to.

I've got UM installed (and have re-installed it, as well as vSphere Client, and UM Client) to no avail.

Restarting UM service after closing vSphere has not helped. Is there a log that'll filled with meaningful errors somewhere?

I note I get "Detecting VUM Agent.." and watch it go to 48% and then sit there for a while, ultimately finishing without error...but UM Tab never appears, nor does it show up in Management section of vSphere client.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

Joe
