Shutdown instead of power off VM before maintanace

Is there an option to initiate a VM shutdown to all VM's before update manager puts the host in maintanance mode ? In the wizard i only see the option to suspend or power off. I would like the servers to shutdown neatly. And because it's a DC i don' like to suspend it.

I've found a script able to do this but then i can't use the update manager sheduler.

Good day,

There is not an overall option to shutdown your VMs, cleanly or otherwise, before moving a host into Maintenance Mode.  You're correct - a script to do this shouldn't be too hard to find or create.

When right-clicking a VM, there will be an option under Power to Shutdown Guest (not Power off).  Shutting down the guest will start a graceful shutdown of the virtual machine and only works if VMware Tools is installed.

Cheers,

Mike

Hello,

Will there be an option to shutdown the VMs instead of PowerOff in a upcomming release?

The feature is good and works fine, but PowerOff isn't a good option for VMs.

A "Shutdown option" would be appreciated.

Kind regards,

Christoph
