Setup failed to connect to the database

Hey Guys,

I am trying to install vCenter update manager, and I have vcenter server and client both installed and working, but I would like to get update manager installed to ease my upgrade of my ESX hosts. However during the setup it goes for the first few screens fine, but then, when it asks me about the database, I point it to my same DSN I used to install vcenter server, and it returns an error that it cannot connect to the database. I haven't seen any reports of this via google, so I thought I would toss it out to the forums. I thought perhaps the vcenter server service might have the database locked, so I killed it and tried again but no luck, any pointers would be appreciated.

Hi there,

It's probably best to create a new database for Update Manager - (depends on the size of your vSphere environment and also what flavour of SQL you are using), and then you can create a new DSN to connect.

Give it a go and let me know.
