Hi All,
Task: I need to upgrade a remote host from 3.5 to 4.1 (classic).
Method: I would like to use update manager (but not a firm requirement)
Issue: I can't stage the ISO with VUM, only patches it seems.
Information:
I do have a copy of the ISO on site, is there a way I can manually stage it for VUM or manually perform the update using the ISO image?
The vCenter/VUM is on the other end of a Sat link.
Can anybody offer me some advice? thanks all
Cheers
Daniel
Ahh looks like http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1009440 will sort me out
Great that you've found the guide for it and good luck with the upgrade.
IMHO I suggest to consider to migrate to ESXi 4.1, instead of try an upgrade to ESX 4.1

Good luck with the upgrade - though I agree with Andre - Go ESXi 4.1
You're doing a major upgrade now . . .and you'll have to do another once ESX disappears . . you may as well kill 2 birds with one stone now?
I could not agree more, however it's not an option for me currently
We have limited time for the upgrade and have locally installed components.
While I have researched and understand how do perform the ESXi install using the alternatives to locally installed plugins I simply don't have the bandwidth(time budget) to do it.
Once ESX classic is gone it will be easier for me to push back and do this right.
