Remediate Host Fails

Recently upgraded to 5.5 Update 2. Upgraded update manager now when trying to patch the hosts it fails with the error:

"VMware vsphere update manager had an unknown error. Check the events and log files for details."

This happens more or less straight away after clicking remediate. I don't seem to be able to find any log related to it nor is there anything useful in events tab.

Any ideas?

Fixed it by cleaning up update manager install, recreating the database with a new one and reinstalling.

All working now, think the DB got a bit corrupt or something happened to it as it worked fine on the first host.

Manually putting host into maintenance mode and rebooting it doesn't seem to make any difference

Please, provide us the version of your ESXi host, vCenter, Update manager and attach the Update Manager logs located at C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\Update Manager or C:\Users\All Users\VMware\VMware Update Manager\Logs.

Seems like the Update Manager in not able to connect to ESXi host on port 902:

Line 11396: [2015-01-22 08:44:30:960 'HostStatusChecker' 3944 DEBUG]  [hostStatusChecker, 195] Exception when communicating with upgrade agent: Error connecting. Error code: 2, message: Failed to connect to server ukstop-esxi05.ctsl.cubic.cub:902

Let me know if you can "telnet ukstop-esxi05.ctsl.cubic.cub 902" from Update Manager.

That host was the one that remediated fine. It is currently switched off though as has other issues. There are 4 more hosts that get the initial unknown error when trying to remediate. Any ideas?

Today I have removed host 5 as it keeps going into not responding state. I then run remediate on one of the other hosts and it starts this time, but gets to 10% then the service seems to stop and plug in disables itself. If I run scan it starts but does the same thing at 5%
