Problem with Update manager plug-in

I am having an issue with Update Manager on my VC server (2.5 build 104215). Update Manager isn't downloading updates. In VC when I go to Plugins it shows that Updae Manager is Installed & Enabled. If I remove the check mark for Enabled & then re-enable it I get a message - 'The server could not interpret the client's request' - but the check mark reappears. I also get this message when I start VC on the server but not from my PC.

If I right-click VMware Update Manager Update download scheduled task & select Properties I get a message - 'The plugin for this task has not been registered'. All VMware services are started. The Update Manager

Update Manager is build 1.0.0.63972 and the VI client on the server is 104215

Thanks for any help.

Hi,

You have incompatibility between VC and VUM. Your VC server is 2.5 and your VUM is 1.0. You should get VUM version 1.5 (builds like 104263) in order to be compatible with VC 2.5.

VMware supports lock step compatibility only.

hph,

They are both VC Update 2. I tried doing a repair of Update Manager but it is failing. I'm working with support to try to resolve this & will post result if I get it fixed.

"Installer (build 104263) which includes vCenter Server 2.5 (build 104215) and its subcomponents (including VMware vCenter Update Manager (build 63972), VMware vCenter Converter (build 62397), VMware Infrastructure Client software, VMware License Server, and VMware Infrastructure WebAccess)."

I've just removed & re-installed Update Manager with Update 2. Didn't have time to wait for support.
