Help: Trying to upgrade ESX 4.0 U1 to U2 using Vcenter Server Update Manager

I am relatively new to vcenter server and update manager.

All of our hosts are running ESX 4.0 Update 1. I downloaded the ESX 4.0 Update 2 ISO and then created a new Host Upgrade Baseline and uploaded the ISO.

When I scan a host, it shows an update is available but when I click on that update I see that it is listed as incompatible and says:

"Upgrade is not supported from Host Version 4.00 build 171294 to release version 4.00 Update 2 build 261974"

So I'm confused as to how I am supposed to be able to update the hosts to 4.0 u2?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

The ISO upgrade procedure is ONLY for the upgrade 3.x -> 4.x

To make update from 4.0.x to 4.0.U2 you have to use a normal update baseline and apply to the hosts.

okay so after reading several other threads on here regarding the same question I had only with regards to Update 1 I discovered the solution to my issue.

I created a new "fixed" host patch baseline and added the "VMWare ESX 4.0 Complete Update 2" rollup patch to it.

I then found that I could remediate my ESX 4.0 servers with it with no problem.
