Connection between UM and UMDS

Hello:

I have a problem with my Update Manager. I've installed my Update Manager server on my lan, and the UMDS on the DMZ. I created the repository, y creted the export folder, I have connection between both servers, but everytime that I try to download the patches from a shared repository (http://UMDS_host/export_folder), nothing happens.

On UMDS I've selected to download only ESXi 5.0 and ESXi 5.5 patches.

On hostupdate\vmw\embeddedEsx folder I only see 4.0.0 and 4.1.0 folders. Where are the 5.0.0 and 5.1.0 folders? Repositories to download are the default repositories installed with UMDS.

On hostupdate\vmw\vib20 I have a lot of .vib files. What is a .vib file? Are files for 5.0.0 and 5.1.0?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the link. It was the link that I followed to install my UM and UMDS. But at the end, the problem is that I can not download the new patches from UMDS to UM. The connection is correct. Task start and finish correctly, but doesn't appear new patches on UM.

Solved. The problem was the user on IIS. If you open the Basic Settings of virtual folder on IIS, you can trest the connection and define the user to connect. I change the user for one local user, and now everything is working. I think that the problem is that one server is in a domain and the other one no.

Thanks.

I've exactly had the same issue and managed to fix it by your comment.

Checking the website offering the patches from a browser can be useful, I've just simply clicked on "host patches" folder and even Anonymous access was configured it threw the authentication failed error. After that I've tested the connection and had to add a user to it and now my downloaded patch list has appeared in UM as well.

Previoulsy I added the .vib and .sig MIME files to IIS with fake types, I do not know if it is of any help.
