Cannot Use VUM

Hello everyone,

I've installed VUM with my vCenter (vSphere 4.1) for several months.

Today, when I want to check some upgrade, I found that all frame of Update tab in vSphere Client is not working just leaving many "Loading...".

I tried to start vSphere Client from the same server of vCenter installed. The same. Lot's of "Loading".

All I Checked:

1 All services are started.

2 VUM Service is started.

3 When I try to restart VUM service, it will take about 1 minute to stop and 2 minutes to start.

4 After VUM restart, and the whole vCenter server restart, problem is still the same.

5 Windows Event Log:

The description for Event ID 1 from source VMware vCenter Update Manager Service cannot be found. Either the component that raises this event is not installed on your local computer or the installation is corrupted. You can install or repair the component on the local computer.

If the event originated on another computer, the display information had to be saved with the event.

I uninstalled VUM client (plugin) and VUM server, delete the database and packages in the update data folder. Reinstall them again. The problem still exists.

When I use vSphere Client to open VUM plugin, still many "Loading", and some errors like this:

Call "UpdateManager.DownloadUpdateSignatures" for object "Integrity.UpdateManager" on Server "xxxx" failed.

Is there any other way to modify VUM without this dame slow client?

I know this is an old post, but I ran into the same problem and this was all I found on it.  I ended up having to call support and the fix was to go into  C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\VMware\VMware Update Manager\Data\hostupdate and renamed the vmw dir to vmw.old. Then went into the client Home>Solutions and Applications>Update Manger and download the patches again.  It worked fine after that.
