the capture process has been done by following the KB from vmware in order to virtualized IE 7and we have followed the best practice.

your prompt assistance is greatly appreciated.

Many thanks.

The values are correct. I'm sharing my IE 7 ThinApp that you can rebuild and test it.

Please, try to set different default printer and run virtualized IE again with other printer set as default.

I had this kind of problem o native installed IE and it was caused by printer driver.

thank you , do you mean i have to install printer driver before doing the capture.

my scenario is a clean installation of XP SP2 then run thinapp , intstall IE 7 and do the capture.

take the sandbox( portable exe file) and try to run on windows 7 32bit , i was able to run the legacy application that we have however when i try to print i can't

noting that the 7 machine has multiple printers already installed and the native IE8 can see those printers.

Nope, you don't have to install drivers. Thinapp doesn't support driver virtualization. I think you should try to do following:

  • Have clean WXP
  • Install printer driver
  • Run Thinapp
  • Install IE 7.0
  • Run Legacy Application and try print
  • Do the Capture

Then remove old sandbox from W7 and run new virtualized IE and test printing.

Can you check whether the 'spool' folder is available under %SystemSystem%?

If available, can you open the ##Attributes.ini file and check the value of DirectoryIsolationMode?

hey lakshman,

yes the folder "spool" is under the %systemSystem% and the ini file related to spool folder contains the following info:

[Isolation]

DirectoryIsolationMode=Merged

i read somewhere that this value is an exception for spool folder only and the parent value of the %systemsystem% folder should be :

[Isolation]

DirectoryIsolationMode=WriteCopy

is there any incorrect values ??? thanks in advance.
