I heard it was possible to do something called an "inline update" using the capture process. For example, I want to update firefox from 3.5.6 to 3.5.7, but I'd like to do it in such a fashion that the sandbox remain and users use the same firefox entry point they have been using. I was told you can update the app by adding an additional application capture process with just the 3.5.7 update, and then name the .dat file to .1 or .2 or something.
Has anyone tried this inline update?
Or, how do you update your applications to a new version?
Thanks.
updating firefox should be quite easy. Check out this topic for instructions http://communities.vmware.com/thread/239779?tstart=0
you can captur an ne Version of the FF, and overcopy the Pakage.
You have to give the same name for the pakage.
Then you should get yout your old SandBox.
Thanks - I actually used SBMERGE yesterday to update Firefox. It worked well. Thanks for your reply.
I'm still curious about the inline update.
Anyone else tried an inline update before?
Thanks!
