Unable to capture IBM Lotus Symphony

Hi guys,

I tried to capture the latest IBM Lotus Symphony Suite v3.0. During copying of the files to the capture folder Thinapp gives me this error

It says that it is unable to write to a simple .ini file... I can't figure out what the problem is.

Maybe someone of you can try to capture Lotus Symphony on their own and report whether the get the same message?

That would be great

thanks

Frank

I'd still give the "save to shorter path" a try.

Looking at the error screenshot, my guess is that the file name is too long. Save to e.g. C:\LS instead of C:\Programme\VMware\VMware ThinApp\Captures\IBM Lotus Symphony, or use the latest ThinApp version (4.6.0) in which this long filename problem is solved.

awesome. thanks.

the short path did it. I installed it under C:\Symphony\... and capturing worked flawlessly.

You said 4.6.0 fixed the issue with long filenames... well, obviously not. Where can I file a bug for that?

That's not an issue with Windows. If you count the number of characters in the "COPY TO" path in the above image, you'll see it's longer than the Windows XP maximum path length. Save the capture to something shorter "Z:\Captures\{my project folder}" instead of installing to a different location on your capture and build (CnB) system.

ThinApp troubleshooting blog articles (http://blogs.vmware.com/thinapp/troubleshooting) discuss this as a workaround to the Windows OS path length limitations.
