Hello.
Has anyone had any success virtualizing IE9 beta using Thinapp? I am able to create the package and execute it. The browser launches a blank start page, but crashes immediately when trying to load any web page.
The ThinApp-packaged browser crashes when launching on the capture OS (Windows 7 enterprise 32 bit) as well. When launching the actual installed browser, however, it works fine.
During the capture process the following warnings are logged, not sure whether they make any difference, though:

I'm having the same problems and would like help as well
Some more details on this issue. I also have it on Win7 x86 capture. Failes to launch on the capture machine, or another Windows 7 machine (x86 & x64)
1) As for the "Search" folders that failed to get copied that is because they are in use by "Windows Search" service. If you disable this during capture you won't get these errors. In addition I don't think these particular files failing to capture are related to IE9 crashing.
Attaching a debugger get the message:

Now oleaut32.dll is known to cause issues in ThinApp if captured, then run on another OS. But In this case the file is not in the capture... I will continue to do some more investigation as I have time...if anyone needs me to find more details to help them suggestion solution let me know.

from my past experience, beta software supports are very limited and mostly will not work. as such that it does not work i would wait till IE9 GA and thinapp maybe updated to fix the problem.
Now the IE9 is officially released, has any one managed to get it to work with thin app?
I have just tried with the release version and get the same results as detailed in this post. It runs and then crashes as soon as you try to open a page. I captured using windows 7 64 bit sp1.
There is not much point in trying to package IE9 with ThinApp 4.6.1, it won't work. VMware is aware of the problem and we're looking into it.
I was wondering if the was any word on the status of internet explorer 9, when and if the problems are fixed
I get the same problem with the final release of IE9.
Hi,
Any news about the success possibilities to virtualize Internet Explorer 9 with ThinApp 4.6.1?
Thanks.
ThinApp 4.6.1 will not support IE9. 4.6.1 is currently the latest ThinApp version released. Please do not ask when new versions will be released or what it will include since VMware do not discuss such matters in public.
Hello,
What kind of "Isolation Mode" do you use?
I remember I met issues when I used IE6, 7 and 8 virtualized wiht WriteCopy IsolationMode on Windows XP SP2 32bit and run on Windows 7 64bit.
When I modified IsolationMode by Full. It worked well! But my plugins virtualized (Adobe Flash Player, Java) don't work... due to the isolation mode.
Try with Full Isolation Mode.
After you will be able to change IsolationMode on differents folders. But it's not the subject of this topic.
I will try asap.
