Thinapp 5.0 not capturing DLLs in SysWow64 folder

Many many many time lurker, first time poster. Be gentle!

I've been thinapping since 4.6 or so.. So I've got a fair bit of operating knowledge of capturing apps. Only a little knowledge on troubleshooting, besides,, missing file, insert file, rebuild. OR copypasta from forum!

Capturing an app that is designed for W7, it is a 32 bit app. Capturing on a W7x64.

Pre-scan, install app, configure app, run app (runs fine), post scan. No changes to project.ini before building.. Test on W7x64 box. Says missing DLL. Look at %SystemSystem% where syswow64 is merged to, and sure enough, the DLL isn't there. That DLL gets installed with the application, but ThinApp isn't "capturing" it.. Thinapp doesn't say anything is wrong. If I manually put the DLL in there, re-build, that works.. Problem is, it installs a metric boat load of DLLs, and would take me forever to figuring out which ones.

What am I missing? Why is the capture process not seeing those DLLs, and dumping them into the capture folder?

Thanks in advance,

-Kyle

Hi Kyle,

Using Thinapp5.0, postscan operation captures SysWOW64 folder. This can be tested by copying a file/dll in SysWOW64 directory during prescan and postscan operation.

Possible scenarios, where thinapp would have missed the dll file may be.

     1. The dll file may pre-exist on the system before application installation.

     2. The dll would have not been copied during "save project" operation(Copy error would have displayed during the operation).

Please capture the application on a clean machine. before capturing make sure the dll is not present in "SysWOW64" directory.

Thanks,

Sathish
