ThinApp Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 8

Dear all,

We need to use Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 8 Pro 64 Bits (Tablet).

I try to virtualize Internet Explorer 8 from a Windows 7 base OS, but when I run it on Windows 8 nothing appear, only IE10 started.

Can you help me to solve this issue, i've a little knowledge with ThinApp, and I need to find urgently a solution to run Internet Explorer 8 on Windows 8.

Can you, please, provide more details how you proceed?

Have you tested your IE 8.0 on other than Windows 8 computer? Did it work?

Hi,

You may consider capturing the IE8 on Vista or XP.

But if you capture on Windows XP, make sure you incorporate these changes. http://kb.vmware.com/kb/2038758

Hi,

I did a capture of IE 8 on Vista SP2 using thinapp 473 build 891762.

Ran it on Windows 8, I was able to see the IE 8 launching. I could browse as well.

While you capture IE 8 you may use directions as written here http://kb.vmware.com/kb/1026674

I've done a capture from Windows XP with IEshims.dll and everything its ok.
