ThinApp Community (Germany)

Hi all ThinApp packagers in germany,

What do you think about creating a ThinApp community group in germany with regular meetings at VMware, customer or partner locations? ThinApp and application packaging can be really complex if you think about all the self developed windows applications that can't be migrated the easy way with automated tools like ThinApp converter. What about creating and developing a technical ThinApp community around all customers and partners in Germany? What do you think? At the beginning i want to limit this community to germany so the travel distances are not to far. If you are interested don't hesitate to contact me so i will try to arrange a first community meeting in germany. :slightly_smiling_face:

I think it's great idea even I'm from Slovakia Smiley Happy Maybe there can be once a year event for European ThinApp community (in Germany Smiley Happy).

From my point of view i would rather have a more ThinApp minded focus from VMware.

At the moment it is more like 'a addon for view'. Yes, it is a good tool, but VMware tries to sell the bundle. Same is for events. Alle events are 'all in' events.

As I am mainly ThinApp minded i would love some more focus on the specific item ThinApp (ranging from training to certification) as well as events. On the other hand: companies are free to organise specific events. My employer does so for example... And yes, if there is a nearby event mainly for ThinApp (and Germany is nearby: NL) i think i can make it there.

Just try to inform VMware as well and maybe they can send some represenative (pbjork?). Then i can finaly shake some hands

Just curious: are you VMware only or 'comparison to cometition' as well? aka: do you want a ThinApp based community or an ApplicationDelivery based one?

Count me in, as long as you allow English content... My German is not perfect...

Kind regards,

Michael Baars

Add-on... Just noted the VMware logo. VMware will be in the loop then i assume...

And welcome on the forums as it is your first post!

Hi,

now we have a fixed date. Tuesday the 13th of September. The location at this time will be in Hennef (Germany).

Peter Bjork and the ThinApp product management will try to be there! If you like technical discussions in ThinApp and are willing to join the ThinApp Community group please write me an email (awilke@vmware.com) with a short description about your ThinApp experiences and what are your expectations to this group.

I will put you on the list of people that will get the offical invitation when we are ready to send out.

Thanks

Andreas
