Hi everybody
This is just a theoretical question: Is it possible in Windows environment to separate the application from the OS? To deploy a complex app without installation, using a fake registry file or something like that. Something like what ThinApp can do, but I don't want to involve any 3rd party software.
What do you mean "involve any 3rd party software"?
Maybe you could use tools like Netinstall or 'totaluninstall" to figured out by hand, what changes a installation-routine did in system.
Then you have to implement an "installation-command-routine" as cmd,
Investigate for all changes on host system.
In a second step you have to eaxamine all changes registry an filesystem.batch or a HLL where you change registry and filsystem, like the apps installation routine did it.
Good luck.

Thanks for your respons leobissinget.
Wow, this seems to be a really hard work, especially If I'd like to deploy a complex application (e.g.Microsoft Server products) in this way.
And I don't know, how could I make a "fake" registry, to store the registry entries made by the program.
I just found a great website, the guys at http://www.portableapps.com are doing the same what I'am talking about, but this is seems to be a little indie project for me.
