Hello, Has anyone made any attempts to package the latest version of Opera web browser (v20)? (Using Thinapp 5.0 & Win7x32 Capture Machine) Every attempt I made so far has been unsuccessful, virtual application crashes when I try to run it in a Win7x64 environment
I had used ThinApp 5.0 to virtualize Opera version 20 on a Win 7 32-bit platform and launch on Win 7 x64 bit OS was successful. During the browser capture there was no setting done for ThinDirect.
Could you please share the screenshot and the log files.
Thanks,
Suresh
When packaging Opera on Win 7 32, launch the browser before post scan and make sure it works.
If you are using older version of ThinApp, please use the latest version 5 for packaging.
Suresh - did you make any adjustments to thinapp package ini file before building it? were there any changes you made to application prior to post scan? Ill try to attach log file for you later this morning Lakshman - I been using thinapp 5 during every attempt and I do launch the software before proceeding to post scan
So I isolated my problem to streaming, virtual opera browser will not run if its being streamed from a network location. But if I copy the entire dat & exe to local VM it works without any problems. Not sure why its not working when its streamed interested to hear anyone thoughts on that
1. Check if the network share has both EXE and DAT files
2. Do you see the sandbox getting created on the local machine when streaming?
1. Check if the network share has both EXE and DAT files? Network share does have both EXE & DAT residing in same folder
2. Do you see the sandbox getting created on the local machine when streaming? Were using persona management with folder redirection of "AppData\Roaming" folder, so thinstall folder is actually being created on another network share. But to answer your question yes I do see the sandbox get created when the application is launched
I think the issue may be in the persona management. Can you check whether the 'Folders to background download' group policy setting is enabled?
Please have a look at this KB:
No that policy is not set - Right now only consideration done for thinapp in my agency persona management policy is we enabled VMware View Agent Configuration/Persona Management/Folder Redirection-> Application Data (Roaming) (where When enabled, the user's roaming Application Data folder will be redirected to the UNC path configured) since thinapp sandbox resides in that location are view design engineers thought that would be sufficient
Do you think following that KB for thinapp in are floating pool is best course of action? and if so im taking we would have to disable (appdata\roaming) redirection aspect in our policy
