Have you tried to redownload the application again?  It is possible that you received a bad download.  We have installed it on Windows 7 32bit many times and have had no problems.

Yes I have downloaded it few times and same. I am able to install it on any other VM except the newly created clean win 7 32bit. Do you have to install VM tools and View agent? I am in the process of removing view agent and vm tools right now. Once i do that i will try to install thinapp agian and see how that goes. Thank you for your repond.

The install launches and it gets me to a point where you have to accept the license agreenment. once I click accept and click ok the screen disappers for few seconds and I get eroror message. The MSI c:\users\----\appdata\local\temp\vmware_1319221120\vmware-thinapp-4.6.2-467908.msi" failed.

Are you installing the application on a VM? If so, there is no need for the agent, just install the tools.  That could be why you are not able to install thinapp.

Yes and I ended up removing the agent and the tools. I reinstall the tools and no agent this time. Try to run the install and it gave me the same error message. So now I just deleted the newly created VM and I’m going to recreated the VM and try the whole process again. Stay tuned and again thank you for replying back to my post I do really appreciate it.

If you can, try this:

  1. Install ThinApp on a machine where you know it will work.  Better yet, from your freshly built Windows 7 32-bit VM, browse to the location of the working ThinApp install.
  2. Copy/paste ThinApp installation folder from working VM to new Win 7 32 VM.
  3. Add THINSTALL_BIN environment variable to Win 7 32 VM.  The environment variable should contain the path to the ThinApp folder.
  4. Launch ThinApp on Win 7 32 VM.

For example, I have a Windows XP Pro 32-bit VM where ThinApp 4.6.2 has been installed to "c:\program files\vmware\vmware thinapp".  I can copy the entire contents of the folder over to c:\thinapp (or any folder of your choosing) on my Windows 7 machine.  Right-click Computer and select Properties.  Open Advanced System Settings link in the upper left corner.  Click the Environment Variables button.  Under the System Variables section, click the New... button.  The THINSTALL_BIN environment variable should look like this:

Variable:  THINSTALL_BIN

Value:  c:\thinapp (or, again, as mentioned above, any folder of your choosing)

ThinApp does not have to be installed from the MSI.  Now, as to the question of licensing and how many places you can install the packager suite, etc., I'll leave that to VMware.  I'm just sharing a technical solution to a technical problem.
