Module could not be found

Hi,

I'm evaluating ThinApp, so pretty new.

I've been able to package quite a few apps successfully (on Windows XP) so far. But when I try to run these on a Win2k8 R2 RDS server, I'm getting "The specified module could not be found" And error: 0x8007007e

Figured, something was obviously missing.

So, created a clean Win2k8 R2 server and packaged from that.  But getting the same message.  The only thing missing from this Win2k8 server and the one I'm trying to run the app on (and getting the errors) is the clean machine that I packaged on does not have the RDS role installed.

I tried using ProcMon to see if I can spot something, but not clearly.  Is there an easier way to troubleshoot these issues?

Thanks in advance.

Thanks!

When I run the hotfix, it says "The update is not applicable to your computer".  Wonder if that's because I have SP1 and it is included.. I'll have to find out.

Thanks again.

Any additional advice on this issue? Our ultimate goal in our case is to get ThinApp'd apps working in a RDS environment and this seems to be quite a road block at the moment.  All but one app does not work currently. And the one that does work is also 32bit if that helps.

Thanks

Please have a look at this blog post: http://blogs.vmware.com/thinapp/2011/04/making-windows-xp-only-apps-run-on-windows-7.html

W2K8 is pretty similar to Windows 7 so I expect same workarounds applies..

Hi again.

I tried all those DLLs but nothing worked.

But get this...

The app will not work if it is run.  But the app DOES work if I run the application but also have the Log Monitor running at the same time!  What's with that?  Any ideas?

That would indicate, please go to “File a support ticket” without passing Go.. You should file a support ticket so our developers can have a look at it. It shouldn’t be acting in that way..

I'd love to, but it's EVAL.  Which kinda blows my eval since it's 'broken'.Smiley Sad

Are you in contact with a VMware partner or rep. that perhaps could help you out? VMware do not normally accept support tickets for pre sales cases. The support we offer is typically a post sales support. Your issue is to hard to help out with via this community am I afraid..
