Internet Explorer 8 and "mailto:" links

Hi,

we have a thinapped version of Internet Explorer 8, but mailto: links doesn't open outlook but a message that the right mail client is not installed.

ThinApp 4.7.3 IE8 captured on XPSP3.

Thanks

I bet this is due to restrictive Isolation Modes in the registry. Keeping IE from seeing the locally installed mail client.

You can try capture IE8 with your email client already installed and/or look at this blog post for guidance where to start looking..

The IE ThinApp is merged as default.

I've tried what the post said but is still the same.

when I go over a mailto link with mouse I see the error icon on link on the status bar of IE.

What the default isolation mode specified in package.ini happens to be have no real relevance.. Please have a look at this blog post for a deeper isolation mode understanding..

http://blogs.vmware.com/thinapp/2011/04/thinapp-isolation-modes-explained.html

or you can download a sample chapter from my book: http://www.packtpub.com/vmware-thinapp-4-7-essentials/book    this chapter covers the isolation modes.

Thanks Peter, but I'm not a newbie of ThinApp :slightly_smiling_face: (I've worked a lot on ThinApp with your italian colleagues, Andrea Siviero, Mirko Mapelli.. etc).

By the way I know what you mean, and I've setted the right isolation mode on each folder reported in your documents but nothing has changed.

We will ask to customer to open a formal SR about this.

thanks
