IE8 Security Patching - Failed to Install Catalog Files

Hi,

Having issues with updating an IE 8 Package with the latest Security Rollup package from MS, this comes as an .EXE and doesn't use Windows Installer.

Sandbox - Local and configured in the Bin folder

I ran through the process to add cmd.exe to the run-time environment and launched the update package from within the command shell, installation starts and then stops with the error 'Failed to install Catalog Files' and then crashes out.

Can anyone verify the steps to take for updating IE packages?

Are you sure it doesn't use the msiexec? Even a .exe installer can be using the Installer Service and therefore fails to be captured into the sandbox..

Hi,

I checked the running processes whilst attempting to update the package and no process for installer is showing - the only new processes are update.exe and the IE8-WindowsXP-KBxxx.exe.
