Hi to everyone,
I am running the latest (downloaded today) versione of VMWare ThinApp and I am trying to virtualize the new Xilisoft iPad Magic tool. I did all the steps but when complited it shows me the following error code "Unable to open". How do I do to fix it?
Thanks, sev7en
Unfortunatly the information you provide does not give enough information for a good answer.
How does the system you are capturing on look like (what os, installed other software)? Advise: a clean, fresh Windows XP SP3 will do. Check the 'clean system' advise in the user manual and/or this post: http://blogs.vmware.com/kb/2011/06/what-is-a-thinapp-clean-machine.html
And what are 'all' the steps you performed... Please add some additional info including in particular the items where you made a specific choice (for example: which installation choices were made, what is the applied the isolation mode and what entry point have you activated...?
At last what is the exact message you get. And what happens when you try to open the ThinApped application on the system you installed the application on? and on 'the' clean system (aka: same as you did your capture on, set back the snapshot to just before you started the installation... or on a different machine...
At last you can start troubleshooting:
ThinApp has a 'log monitor' included. This generates HUGE log files but might hint you to a possible solution. And Proces monitor might help you identify the file that can't be opened...
To get a more specific answer we need more information from you.
Good luck and get back if you have further questions...

Hi Michael,
thank you very much for getting me back sooner.
I did it by using a clean Windows 7 SP1 64Bit installation as well as a Windows XP SP3 installation (also via virtual machine) with no success. When I launch the application on a system where this tool has never been loaded, it shows me these error messages (exactly if it needs additional libraries not repacked by ThinApp).
The steps I do:
1) Run ThinApp and setup-up the "grab" enviro
2) Install the application and set-it up (I add my SN and some setting for the temp files (I set all to c:\))
3) Complete the ThinApp procedure
4) Build the executable
Anyway I will send you the log file and since now, many thanks for your support!
Fabrizio
