Firefox problems opening office documents

I currectly have Firefox 14 thinapp when use try to open any office documents they recieve a licensing error and unable to open the document. Office 2010 is installed on my master image. We have found if the user first opens word or excel then opens the document from firefox it work just fine. We experience the same problem with Chrome thinapp.

Interesting... Are you downloading word/excel from Firefox and trying to open them or opening directly from Firefox?

I installed firefox on the VM and was able to download a office document and open it with no licensing errors.

Are you seeing this issue on a particular VM? Is it possible to check on another machine please.

I have asked my QE engineer to reproduce it, if he can, I'll log a bug. Meanwhile i suggest you to open a ticket so that it can be tracked for you.

As I understand your issue,

  1. You seem to have no issues when you download a .docx file and then double click to open that file.
  2. You seem to have no issue when you download that file and then open that file using MsWord 2010.
  3. A launch of the office 2010 is happening without any issues.

But you seem to have a issue when

  1. you click on a link on docx file.
  2. Then a pop up of the mozilla comes up that suggests that this file needs to be opened with Word 2010.
  3. When you click on OK, Word 2010 opens .
  4. After sometime you get a license error.

If this is the case then do.

   0. Delete the sandbox of Mozilla.

  1. Run services.msc
  2. Stop "Office Software Protection Platform" service.
  3. Run ThinApped Mozilla Firefox.
  4. goto a link containing the .docx.
  5. Click on it.

The Word 2010 should open the file without any licensing error.
