When I tried to attempt to print from a virtualized app, I got the above message. Any idea or suggestions, please?

Hi There,

1) Application is called Searchlight.

2) Captured and deployed on Windows XP SP3

3) ThinApp version is 4.7.0

Application vendor says that the printing module written using some dotnet modules whereas the rest of the application is not dotnet - not sure what it is.

Regards,

is there a download link of the application which I can use for experimentation purposes?

It is originally a custom designed app for us, and my correspondence at vendor is not available right now. Because of licensing any other related concerns, I cannot just provide it, sorry.

Instead, I was hoping to see if somebody else ran into a similar issue before, or some advanced troubleshooting tips why that error had been generated. Basically, I went through windows XP logs but they are not much of a help.

Thanks anyways!

You said you looked at the logs in XP, did you search for the said message, did you check for failure around stdole? What does the potential error section says?

What happens when the application is installed on system(not thinapped), and you launch it using virtual cmd?

Interestingly, it turned out that if I install MS Office suite first before virtualizing the app on my pristine workstation, all printing functionality just works fine.

Now that you know when it works and when it does not.

If you are curious and want to know what really failed, you may grab logs of both the cases and compare them. Else you anyways have the workaround.

Could you please specify exactly what log files I can look at?

Thanks,

Log monitor is the diagnostic tool comes with thinapp installation, shoot that before you launch the application and it will trace it. Google it for more.
