I have Adobe Reader 9.4.3 thinapped with version 4.6 and it prints to any Lexmark printer but will not spool to a HP printer. I have tried several other HP printers and no luck. I re did the thinapp thinking that I missed something and I am having the same results. I was having good luck with Adobe Reader X printing but it was not opening some PDF's that Adobe Reader 9 would. Does anyone have any ideas? Thank you!
Normally will your printing spool to the spool folder in %SystemSystem% (System32) and it is important this is set to merged. Have you investigated the Sandbox to see if you are having the print spooling happening to somewhere else?
I looked at the ##Attributes file in the spool folder and Isolation is set to merged. The ##Attributes file in the %SystemSystem% however is set to WriteCopy. How do I know where the sandbox is spooling the PDF? Thank you
Yes, the %SystemSystem%\Spool folder is normally the folder used but since you say it does not work I suspect the HP driver in your case is using another location. In order to find that out please investigate your Sandbox to see if you see large print spool files in it. The Sandbox is located in %AppData% (the users roaming profile) by default but is customizable.
I looked in the %AppData% folder and could not see where it was spooling any jobs. I did some other testing though and found out some interesting facts. I can print to a different HP printer that the department owns. I can't print to the same model (HP P4014) from the thinapp. Do you think that changing the driver would take care of this? These HP printers are all running from the same print server and I set them up all the same way. The only difference is the P4014 printer is of course using a different driver than the 4050 model. Thank you for helping me out!!
I have not heard of any issues of printing that has been device driver related but it sure sounds like you have found one.. Please give it a try and let us know the result.
Well it appears that maybe the driver was not the issue. Last night just after changing the driver on the server to the PCL5 version I was able to spool from the Adobe Reader thinapp. This morning however I am not able to print to the printer from the thinapp. I am totally stumped.

Does anyone have any other ideas that I can try?
Just as a test, can you delete the Sandbox and try to print again?
Good thought, but I have done that and it is still not helping. I have even enabled the sandbox to be deleted when exiting from the application and that did not help either.
I’m out of ideas.. I would recommend opening a support ticket so we can go to the bottom of this..
A ticket was created and I will post back here what was found out. Hopefully this will be solved. Thanks for your help!
Was there a resolution for this? I'm trying to package Reader version 9 due to some plugins, but I have the same printing issues with HP printers.
