I am running Kubuntu 16.04 with a Windows 10 VM, using Workstation 12. Every time I shut down the VM, I get the message that VMware tools is not running in the VM. Except that it is, or at least should be. I've gone through the installation (and re-installation) a number of times, so I don't understand what's going on. Has anyone else encountered this problem? More to the point, has anyone else encountered a solution?
I don't know whether this is the appropriate forum for this question, so I've cross-posted to the Kubuntu forum as well.
