VMWare workstation pro 15.5.6 compatibility with 16 license

Will VMWare workstation pro 15.5.6 work with VMWare workstation pro 16 license??? 
I wasnt able to find any mention from https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/80624?lang=en_US

If you buy a 16.x license I believe you will need to downgrade it to a 15.x license (through My VMware) in order for the older software to recognise the key.
