Linux Virtual Machine runs at Hyper-Speed

All,

First thanks for any help anyone can provide me.  I was not sure which forum to put this under as it crosses several boundaries.

I am running Workstation 7, Vshpere and ESXi 5 and converter 5.  A virtual Linux machine has been supplied to me from my organization to use.  It is typically run on player.  I have tried to run this machine which is a Linux machine on workstation but it runs at hyper speed.  One keystroke puts down a varrying amount of letters when trying to login.  The icon that shows going around in circles as the machine is loading goes at twice the speed of an actual machine.  I converted the machine to an ESXi server and that fixed the problem but when I bring it back to the workstation and run it (i used converter to move it back to the workstation), it is running at hyper-speed again.

Has anyone seen this before and/or do you have any idea how to fix this?

Thank you.

Check this KB: http://kb.vmware.com/kb/196

I know this is the exact opposite, but this may help if the variable exists in WS.

Marcelo, this did not seem to have any affect.  The virtual machine still appears to be running at twice or more speed than any other virtual machine.

Thanks for you info.
