lost access to volume in the virtual environment everytime the LUNs have replication

I got the "lost access to volume" event in the virtual environment everytime the LUNs have replication using HItachi HUR replication tool. Access to the volumes goes up and down util the replication is stopped.

the scenario is:

3 ESX in cluster. replication using Hitachi HUR replication tool between the production DC and the secondary DC. 2 LUNs are being replicated ony con VM in one LUN and only Data in the other LUN.

the event pups up aroun 2 and a half hours from the start of replication, no matter the time the replication kicks off.

10/14 - replication initiated at first group: 6:26 AM ET, second group: 7:12 AM ET, first event at 9:53 AM ET

10/15- replication initiated at 9 AM ET, first event at 11:36 AM ET

10/20 - replication initiated at 11 AM ET, first event at 1:26 PM ET

10/20 - replication re-initiated at 2:10 PM ET, first event at 4:36 PM ET

On the storage array frame side (USPV) disk access time peaks at the time the event pop up. These peaks are also registered in the VM environment.

So far, we have detected a pattern in the symtoms, but not the causes of this symptoms.

Have any one experienced this? or Does any one have a clue on where to look for the causes of this issue?

we run vmware-support command prior the replication kick off and once the event pops up to collect data.

What size LUNs are you replicating?  At the site I am at they limit replicated LUNs to 505GB due to a vendor recommendation for the older SAN.

Has this always happened or just recently?  Are you getting good performance on the SAN normally?

You should look at the logs on the SAN side and raise a ticket with the vendor if you can't find anything.

LUNs are 500GB.

This issue has always happened but only for those LUNs assigned to the VM environment and being replicated.

LUNs not in HDS HUR replication assgined to the VM environment show no issues.

No issue for LUNs assigned to physical servers and having replication.

in conclusion, two conditions for the issue: LUNs assigned to the VM environment and having Hitachi HUR replication.
