Virtual machines poor performance after idle time.

Hi Team,

I'm having some issues with virtual machines being slow to respond to the first request.

After a machine is idle for a while (30 minutes and up), the first request to it (when opening a webpage or remote desktop to it) is extremely slow! Respond time is between 15 to 30 seconds.

BTW during this time, ping times are excellent.

When the page finally appears, subsequent page requests have excellent response times.

Our infrastructure is VC 3.5 and some 3.5 ESX’s

Have you checked to make sure the vm's power settings are correct? No standby, no hard disk power management etc?? If the hard disks are set to turn off after a certain time that can cause this, same with any processor or system power management settings.
