I'm new to VMware and I was wondering if you guys had any recommendations/Best Practices for Resource pools
Remember resource pools allow you to create sub-pools of CPU and Memory resources from your stand alone hosts or clusters - the configuration really is ging to depend on what you are looking at doing. You might want tor eview http://www.vmware.com/pdf/vi3_35/esx_3/r35u2/vi3_35_25_u2_resource_mgmt.pdf for more informaiton on resource pools -

Good reading indeed. I guess I was just more curious about how others had set up their resource pools. Can you give me an example of how you have yours set up and why you decided to go with those metrics?
my personal opinion on resource pools is to only have one, which is your cluster. Enable DRS and HA and let DRS balance your load. Creating resource pools, in my opinion can sometimes become a administration nightmare.
A school system created to 3 resource pools for their 3 sets of customers - students, faculty and administration - or you might have resource pools to provide seperate pools of resources for production and dev/test
