ODBC (Oracle) with ESX(i) faster than with VMware Server ?

Hello,

I just want to ask if anybody can tell me something about performance-issues with ODBC-Oracle and a vm running on an esx(i) or vmware server 1.x/2 host?

Are there any differences?

As server runs on top of another OS it has less control of resources plus there is the overhead of the OS itself. On the same hardware ESXi will be execute the VM much closer to bare metal performance than server.
