We were benchmarking an media stream application that does a high volume of small data network activity. When comparing the CPU usages on the bare hardware and under vmWare esxi 5 on the same hardware, we have noticed the cpu utilization what higher on the bare hardware than it was under vmWare. FYI, the application operates on a 32 bit linux and does very little disk io. Does any one have any idea how this can happen?
