Intel E5530 vs Intel L5530

Does anyone have any experience with the low power chips from Intel? We are creating a PO and are down to the decision of which CPU to use. The low power would be nice, and from what we can find, the performance is no different. Something must be different to have a lower power consumption though.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

Thanks in advance

There is no detailed specification on Intel site for L5530 for comparing, but as per http://ark.intel.com/Compare.aspx?ids=41755,37103, L5530 has no Turbo Boost.

It just costs more.

The chip is of a higher quality so it is rated to run at lower power.

Thank you for the great replies. Being that turbo boost is the only feature missing, any thoughts about using them for heavy consolidation in ESX?

If you have memory bounds for consolidation - Turbo Boost means nothing to you, but if you consolidation ratio is limited by processing power - I'd suggest E5530.

Thank you everyone. I think we will go the E5530 route. We have been memory bound in the past but our next hosts have a ton of RAM.

I stand corrected I did not realize the 5530 lacked turbo boost, learn something new every day, thank's.

It appears from that chart that their are a number of differences, more than just turbo boost.
